Barili is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. An amusing fable which eventually became the official story behind the name "Barili" which entails the misunderstanding between a native and a Spaniard asking for the name of the place. The native supposedly thought that the Spaniard was asking for the name of the plant he was touching at that time which was a vine or a weed which was commonly called a "Balili"
Barili's principal products include corn, coconuts, swine and cattle . While a good number of people in Barili are engaged in limestone and rock phosphate mining, a large percentage of the population are farmers and livestock raisers.
